Physicist – Program Manager in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
SALARY RANGE: 120,830.00 - 153,200.00 USD /year

Major Duties:

Serve as a recognized scientific authority and expert in theoretical condensed matter physics, and as such have the responsibility to plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate research programs in the field on a national and international level.
- Serve as a Program Manager determining scientific focus and direction of the research program in theoretical condensed matter physics, preparing calls for proposals, organizing independent peer reviews, recommending funding allocations, organizing Principal Investigator meetings, serving as a liaison on committees, and monitoring scientific progress of the program.
- Examine and ascertain pioneering research needs and opportunities of the research program against scientific and technological advances and of potential needs of the Department of Energy.
- Critically evaluate contractor, DOE laboratory, and grantee research proposals and performance via own scientific and technical judgment, merit review, site visits and reviews, and panel reviews.
- Develop and prepare analytical documents to communicate with top management of DOE and higher echelons of government on the status of programmatic phases and new developments and opportunities in a broad range of theoretical condensed matters physics.
